The contribution of sodium reduction and potassium increase to the blood pressure lowering observed in the Salt Substitute and Stroke Study
Computational/Algorithm Study
2024 AprThis study used a special salt with more potassium and less sodium, and found that blood pressure dropped by 3.3 mmHg — just like the claim said. Most of that drop (over 60%) was because of the extra potassium, not the less sodium, which is exactly what the claim claimed.
