Why this might work

During intense exercise, the heart pumps faster and harder, squeezing more blood out of the left ventricle with each beat. This reduces the amount of blood left in the chamber after each contraction. At the same time, the ventricle has less time to fill with blood between beats because the heart is beating so quickly. These two effects together cause the left ventricle to hold less blood during vigorous exercise, regardless of whether a person is trained or not.
