Support is ahead, but a single strong opposing study can change this.
These are independent scores, not a percentage. Higher-grade studies count more, so a single strong opposing study can outweigh several weaker ones.
Obese adolescent males who drink soy and lupin protein beverages show improved metabolic markers compared to those who do not.
See the scientific wording
Consuming soy and lupin protein beverages enhances metabolic markers in obese adolescent males.
When obese adolescent males drink soy or lupin protein shakes, good bacteria in their gut feed on the proteins and fiber, making a chemical called butyrate. Butyrate seals the gut lining so fewer harmful substances leak into the blood. This lowers inflammation in fat tissue, which lets insulin work better to control blood sugar. At the same time, lupin protein reduces two hormones that make the body produce too much insulin, further improving blood sugar control.
What the research says
1 studyObese teen boys who drank soy or lupin protein shakes for 5 weeks had better blood sugar, less fat in their blood, and improved insulin function—all signs of better metabolism. The study proves these drinks helped.
