When erythritol or xylitol enters the bloodstream, it gets taken up by platelets and causes a surge of calcium inside them. This calcium spike turns on key proteins on the platelet surface that make them sticky and ready to clump together. When these platelets encounter signals like ADP or TRAP6, they respond more strongly and form clumps faster than normal.
