When adrenaline-like chemicals bind to the heart's receptors, they speed up how fast the heart relaxes and fills with blood by making calcium move faster in and out of heart muscle cells and making the muscle fibers less sticky to calcium. Being more fit from endurance training does not make this process work any faster or stronger under this stress.
