Why this might work

When stearidonic acid from plant oils enters the body, it is efficiently turned into EPA by enzymes in the liver and other tissues because it skips a slow step that other fats must go through. This EPA builds up in all tissues, including the brain and heart. But when the body tries to turn EPA into DHA, it gets stuck at a later slow step, so very little DHA is made. The brain and heart cannot make their own DHA and rely on the liver to send it, but since the liver makes so little DHA, these tissues don't get more. That's why EPA goes up everywhere but DHA stays the same in key areas.
