Vitamin K2 helps turn on a protein that blocks calcium from building up in artery walls. When this protein is active, it grabs calcium and stops it from forming hard deposits. Even when vitamin K2 is taken daily, this process does not prevent calcium buildup in people whose arteries have no calcification yet.
