2021 Oct 1The study compared two types of exercises for the biceps muscle: a single-joint exercise (bicep curl) and a multi-joint exercise (dumbbell row). After 8 weeks, the bicep curl group grew their biceps muscles significantly more (11%) than the dumbbell row group (5%), supporting the claim that single-joint exercises should be emphasized for elbow flexor hypertrophy.
