Why this might work

When the body burns fat for fuel instead of sugar, it produces a molecule called beta-hydroxybutyrate that stops damaged thyroid cells from releasing a danger signal called HMGB1. Without this signal, immune cells do not activate a inflammatory complex called NLRP3, which prevents the production of powerful inflammatory chemicals like IL-1β and IL-6. This reduces the number of inflammatory immune cells called Th17 and increases the number of calming immune cells called Tregs in the thyroid. With fewer inflammatory cells and more calming cells, the immune system stops attacking the thyroid, so it stops making antibodies against thyroid proteins and stops letting immune cells invade the gland.
