Why this might work

When the body burns fat for fuel instead of sugar, it produces a molecule called beta-hydroxybutyrate. This molecule stops damaged thyroid cells from releasing a danger signal called HMGB1. Without HMGB1, immune cells do not turn on their TLR2 and TLR4 sensors, so they do not activate NF-kB to turn on inflammatory genes. This prevents the assembly of the NLRP3 inflammasome, which stops the activation of Caspase-1 and the release of IL-1beta and IL-18. As a result, fewer immune cells invade the thyroid, and the production of antibodies against thyroid tissue decreases.
