Why this might work

When the body cannot break down glucose properly, it builds up a sugar called glucose-6-phosphate, which forces pyruvate to turn into lactate instead of being used for energy. This causes acid to build up in the blood. Thiamine helps an enzyme called pyruvate dehydrogenase work properly, which allows pyruvate to enter the energy-producing pathway in mitochondria instead of becoming lactate. This lowers lactate levels and reduces acid buildup.
