The Claim
In adults with resistance to thyroid hormone β, TRIAC therapy is associated with normalization of serum free T4 and total T3 concentrations in 88% of patients (7/8) without increasing serum TSH.
What the research says
Supports is higher
Support is ahead, but a single strong opposing study can change this.
These are independent scores, not a percentage. Higher-grade studies count more, so a single strong opposing study can outweigh several weaker ones.
In adults with resistance to thyroid hormone β, treatment with TRIAC results in normalization of serum free T4 and total T3 levels in 88% of cases without elevating serum TSH.
See the scientific wording
In adults with resistance to thyroid hormone β, TRIAC therapy is associated with normalization of serum free T4 and total T3 concentrations in 88% of patients (7/8) without increasing serum TSH, suggesting TRIAC reduces thyroid hormone production without disrupting central feedback regulation.
TRIAC binds to thyroid hormone receptors in the brain that control thyroid hormone production, turning them back on even when they are broken. This tells the brain to stop signaling the thyroid gland to make more hormones, so the thyroid reduces output of T4 and T3. The hormone levels drop to normal without the brain trying to compensate by making more signals.
What the research says
1 studyIn people with a rare condition where their body doesn’t respond properly to thyroid hormones, TRIAC helped lower their abnormally high hormone levels without making their brain produce more TSH — meaning their body’s natural feedback system kept working fine.
