Why this might work

When omega-3 fatty acids enter the body, they replace a fat called arachidonic acid in cell membranes. This reduces the amount of arachidonic acid available for an enzyme called COX-2 to turn into prostaglandin E2. Instead, the enzyme uses omega-3 fatty acids to make a different, less inflammatory compound. This switch lowers the amount of prostaglandin E2 produced in tissues throughout the body.

    Taking high doses of omega-3 fatty acids (like fish oil) for six months lowered a harmful inflammation chemical called PGE2 in people’s blood. This means eating more omega-3s can help reduce this inflammation marker.
