Liraglutide activates receptors that make the pancreas release more insulin when blood sugar rises, which helps the body use glucose more efficiently. This lowers the amount of sugar available for the liver to turn into fat. When liraglutide stops, insulin response weakens, glucose builds up again, and the liver resumes making fat at high rates. At the same time, fat tissue becomes inflamed and sends signals that further disrupt metabolism, accelerating fat production in the liver.
