Why this might work

When people drink diet beverages often, the artificial sweeteners in them confuse the body's sugar sensors, causing insulin to be released without actual sugar. This excess insulin tells fat cells to store more fat, especially under the skin, leading to bigger waistlines and more total body fat. The body does not store more fat around the organs because the fat cells under the skin respond more strongly to this insulin signal.
