Per GRADE and EBM methodology, here is what ideal scientific evidence would look like to definitively prove or disprove this claim, ordered from strongest to weakest.
A meta-analysis could determine whether Ramadan fasting consistently lowers hsCRP and TMAO across populations after adjusting for weight loss and dietary intake.
A systematic review and meta-analysis of all studies measuring hsCRP and TMAO before and after Ramadan in adults, with mandatory adjustment for body weight change, energy intake, and dietary fiber. Only studies with pre- and post-fasting measurements and standardized assays would be included.
An RCT could determine whether time-restricted eating alone, without dietary change, reduces these inflammatory markers.
