This study looked at how long people sit each day and whether it affects how long they live. It found that people who sit more than 8 hours a day have a 46% higher chance of dying from any cause and a 79% higher chance of dying from heart disease compared to people who sit less than 4 hours a day - exactly matching what the claim says.
