Aspartame attaches to three specific proteins in ovarian cells, making them overactive. One protein forces cells to divide too quickly, another pushes cells to start dividing before they are ready, and the third helps damaged cells avoid dying. Together, this causes ovarian cells to multiply uncontrollably and survive when they should die, leading to tumor growth.
