In people with higher body weight, the colon has more of the enzyme that makes inflammatory molecules, but omega-3 fats from supplements do not reduce this enzyme's activity as much because there is less replacement of the fuel it needs and fewer removals of substances that keep the enzyme turned on. As a result, the inflammatory molecule PGE2 stays higher in people with higher body weight.
