Why this might work

High blood sugar causes proteins in joint cartilage to stick together abnormally, making the tissue stiff and brittle. This stiffness tricks cartilage cells into thinking they are under constant mechanical stress, which turns on harmful signaling pathways. At the same time, the stuck proteins bind to a receptor on the cells, triggering inflammation. Together, these two signals turn on a master switch called NF-κB that activates enzymes that break down cartilage and block repair mechanisms. The stiff environment also shuts down a protective system that normally keeps inflammation in check, making the damage worse and harder to reverse.
