Why this might work

When muscles work hard and fast, they produce acid that slows them down. Carnosine inside the muscle can soak up some of this acid, but it's not enough to stop the buildup. If acid can't leave the muscle, performance drops. Only when acid is pulled out of the muscle by a buffer in the blood can the muscle keep working at full power.
