The Claim
In women aged 40-65, the addition of 30 mg hyaluronic acid to a daily supplement containing 5 g hydrolyzed collagen and 80 mg vitamin C does not result in additional improvements in dermis density, skin roughness, wrinkle severity, elasticity, or hydration over a 16-week period.
What the research says
Supports is higher
Support is ahead, but a single strong opposing study can change this.
These are independent scores, not a percentage. Higher-grade studies count more, so a single strong opposing study can outweigh several weaker ones.
Taking hyaluronic acid alongside collagen and vitamin C does not improve skin thickness, roughness, wrinkles, elasticity, or hydration more than taking collagen and vitamin C alone in women aged 40-65 over 16 weeks.

Adding 30mg hyaluronic acid to a daily supplement of 5g hydrolyzed collagen and 80mg vitamin C does not provide additional benefits for dermis density, skin roughness, wrinkle severity, elasticity, or hydration in women aged 40-65 over 16 weeks.
When you eat collagen supplements, your body breaks them down into tiny pieces called peptides. These peptides travel in your blood to your skin, where they wake up skin cells (fibroblasts). These cells then make more collagen and other supportive materials, and they also block enzymes that normally break down collagen. This makes the skin thicker and smoother, and reduces wrinkles. Adding hyaluronic acid pills does not make this process work better.
What the research says
1 studyScientists found that taking hyaluronic acid pills along with collagen and vitamin C did not improve skin density, smoothness, wrinkles, firmness, or moisture any more than taking just collagen and vitamin C alone.
