Vitamin K2 enables a protein in blood vessel walls to bind calcium and stop it from forming hard deposits. When vitamin K2 is present, this protein becomes active and blocks calcium from building up in the arteries. Even when vitamin K2 makes this protein more active, it does not stop calcium deposits from forming in people who have not yet developed them.
