Why this might work

When omega-3 fats enter the colon, they replace some of the omega-6 fats in cell membranes, reducing the amount of arachidonic acid available to make inflammatory molecules. At the same time, the overall amount of fatty acids in the colon drops, which removes signals that normally boost the activity of the enzyme that makes PGE2. This enzyme works best when it has both its fuel (arachidonic acid) and extra activation signals from other fats. With less fuel and fewer activation signals, the enzyme produces far less PGE2. The amount of this enzyme present before treatment determines how much PGE2 can be reduced, not just the ratio of omega-3 to omega-6 fats.
