Why this might work

When a person stands up, blood pools in the legs, reducing the amount of blood returning to the heart and lowering blood pressure. Special sensors in the neck and chest detect this drop and signal the brain to tighten blood vessels and increase heart rate to restore blood flow to the brain. In older adults with impaired function of this system, the response is too slow or too weak, so blood pressure stays low for more than three minutes. This causes the brain to receive less blood than it needs, leading to dizziness and loss of balance, which results in a fall.
