Why this might work

When muscles contract forcefully in a shortening motion, they produce more lactic acid and release a growth factor called IGF-1Ec, which wakes up muscle stem cells and makes them multiply. Whey protein provides a building block called leucine that turns on a cellular switch called mTORC1, which tells muscle fibers to add new nuclei, especially in fast-twitch fibers. These new nuclei help the fast-twitch fibers grow bigger, but the stem cells multiply in both slow and fast fibers during the training — whey protein does not make stem cells increase only in slow fibers.
