This study compared two ways of lifting weights in 15 guys who already lift regularly. It found that both ways made their muscles react similarly in the short term, but one made them feel more tired afterward. What’s the bottom line?

Two groups of guys lifted weights — one group used light weights and did lots of reps until exhausted, the other used heavy weights and did fewer reps until exhausted. Both groups had the same muscle signals telling their bodies to grow, but the heavy group finished faster and felt less sore the next day.
