Lower occlusion pressure during resistance exercise with blood-flow restriction promotes lower pain and perception of exercise compared to higher occlusion pressure when the total training volume is equalized.
This study asked 12 people to do exercise with different tightness levels on their arms or legs and asked how hard or painful it felt. It found that looser bands felt easier and less painful than tighter ones. But it didn't prove that looser bands are better overall — just how it felt during that one workout.
