The Claim

Creatine monohydrate supplementation combined with plant protein does not enhance maximal strength or work capacity gains beyond those achieved with plant protein alone in resistance-trained adults over an 8-week period.

Source: Effects of 8-weeks of supplementation with a plant protein blend + creatine monohydrate on changes in maximal strength in resistance-trained males and females

In plain English

In resistance-trained adults, taking creatine monohydrate with plant protein does not lead to greater increases in maximal strength or work capacity than taking plant protein alone over eight weeks.

See the scientific wording

Creatine monohydrate supplementation combined with plant protein does not enhance maximal strength or work capacity gains beyond those achieved with plant protein alone in resistance-trained adults over an 8-week period.

Why this might work

When someone is already trained and eating enough plant protein, their muscles are already full of creatine and using it efficiently to make energy during lifts. Adding more creatine doesn’t make the muscles stronger or let them work longer because there’s no extra room or need for more energy production.

What the research says

  1. Study: Effects of 8-weeks of supplementation with a plant protein blend + creatine monohydrate on changes in maximal strength in resistance-trained males and females

In this study, people who took plant protein with creatine got just as strong and could do just as many reps as those who took plant protein alone—adding creatine didn’t help any more. So, for trained lifters, creatine doesn’t give extra benefits when paired with plant protein.
