    The study found that doing squats with a slower lowering phase actually made muscles grow more, not less, compared to a faster lowering phase. So, slowing down doesn’t hurt muscle growth—it helps.

    This study found that slowing down leg lifts a little bit didn’t make muscles grow less than lifting fast — even though it felt harder. But it didn’t test slowing down super slowly like 10 seconds, so we can’t say for sure about that.
