In adults with type 2 diabetes and HbA1c above 6.5%, a 90-day program of personalized nutrition, fitness training, and lifestyle coaching resulted in an average drop of 1.9% in HbA1c and 62.2 mg/dL in fasting blood sugar, compared to standard medical care and general dietary advice.

See the scientific wording

A 90-day personalized multi-intervention program combining customized nutrition, progressive fitness, and lifestyle coaching in adults with type 2 diabetes (HbA1c >6.5%) was associated with a mean reduction in HbA1c of 1.9 percentage points, from 9.0% to 7.1%, and a mean reduction in fasting blood sugar of 62.2 mg/dL, from 178.3 to 116.1 mg/dL, compared to a control group receiving standard pharmacotherapy and general dietary advice.

Why this might work

Exercise and weight loss make muscle and liver cells more responsive to insulin, allowing them to take up more glucose from the blood. At the same time, less fat in the liver stops it from making too much glucose, and eating low-glycemic foods prevents blood sugar from spiking after meals. Together, these changes cause blood sugar to drop and stay lower.
