The Claim
Among adults with chronic tinnitus, those with normal hearing (≤25 dB HL) have a higher probability of achieving a clinically meaningful response (≥30% improvement in three of four outcomes) to Ginkgo biloba extract EGb 761® compared to those with any degree of hearing impairment, with an odds ratio of 4.42 (95% CI: 1.42–13.70).
What the research says
Supports is higher
Support is ahead, but a single strong opposing study can change this.
These are independent scores, not a percentage. Higher-grade studies count more, so a single strong opposing study can outweigh several weaker ones.
Adults with chronic tinnitus and normal hearing are more likely to experience a significant improvement in tinnitus symptoms after taking Ginkgo biloba extract EGb 761® than adults with hearing loss.

In people with normal hearing, the inner ear's sensory cells and nerves stay healthy, allowing the brain's sound-processing centers to properly dampen false signals that cause ringing. When a supplement protects these inner ear cells and improves blood flow to them, the brain receives clearer signals and can better turn down the noise, reducing the perception of tinnitus.
What the research says
1 studyPeople with tinnitus who have normal hearing were about four times more likely to feel significantly better after taking this Ginkgo biloba supplement than those with even mild hearing loss, according to this study.
