Strong Support
If a male cyclist eats a super high-fat diet for 6 days and then loads up on carbs for 1 day, it won’t slow them down in a 100-km race compared to eating lots of carbs all along.

Randomized Controlled Trial
Human
2006 JanThe study found that cyclists on a high-fat diet for 6 days, then switching to carbs for one day, performed just as well in a 100-km time trial as those on a high-carb diet. Their total time didn't change, even though short bursts of speed were worse.
