The Claim
Daily oral intake of a hydrolysed collagen and vitamin C supplement for 12 weeks improves scalp scaling by 11% in adults aged 40-60 compared to placebo, as measured by trichoscopy.
What the research says
Supports is higher
Support is ahead, but a single strong opposing study can change this.
These are independent scores, not a percentage. Higher-grade studies count more, so a single strong opposing study can outweigh several weaker ones.
Adults aged 40 to 60 who take a daily supplement containing hydrolysed collagen and vitamin C for 12 weeks experience an 11% reduction in scalp scaling, as measured by trichoscopy, compared to those taking a placebo.

When you eat hydrolysed collagen, your body breaks it down into small pieces called peptides. These peptides travel through your blood to your scalp skin, where they tell skin cells called fibroblasts to make more collagen. Vitamin C from the supplement helps these fibroblasts create strong, stable collagen and also protects the new collagen from damage. This makes the scalp skin healthier and reduces flaking (scaling).
What the research says
1 studyThe study found the exact same 11% improvement in scalp scaling that the claim mentions, but because the result isn't statistically significant, we can't be sure it's real—meaning the claim might be a bit too confident.
