The Claim
Daily consumption of Limosilactobacillus fermentum UCO-979C in gelatin for 12 weeks does not eradicate Helicobacter pylori infection in young adults, with no statistically significant difference in infection persistence compared to placebo.
What the research says
Supports is higher
Support is ahead, but a single strong opposing study can change this.
These are independent scores, not a percentage. Higher-grade studies count more, so a single strong opposing study can outweigh several weaker ones.
Taking Limosilactobacillus fermentum UCO-979C in gelatin daily for 12 weeks does not eliminate Helicobacter pylori infection in young adults, and the rate of infection remains the same as in those taking a placebo.
See the scientific wording
Limosilactobacillus fermentum UCO-979C in gelatin does not eradicate existing Helicobacter pylori infections in young adults, as 96.7% of initially infected participants remained infected after 12 weeks of daily consumption, with no significant difference compared to placebo.
The probiotic bacteria produce acid that lowers the stomach's acidity, which stops H. pylori from using its main survival tool. The probiotic also sticks to the stomach lining, blocking H. pylori from attaching. At the same time, the probiotic triggers the stomach's natural defenses to become stronger, making it harder for H. pylori to settle in. These actions prevent new infections but cannot remove H. pylori that is already deeply established.
What the research says
1 studyTaking this probiotic gelatin for 12 weeks didn’t get rid of H. pylori in people who already had it — they still had the infection, just like those who took a fake pill. But it did help keep people who didn’t have it from getting infected.
