The Study

Consumption of a Gelatin Supplemented with the Probiotic Strain Limosilactobacillus fermentum UCO-979C Prevents Helicobacter pylori Infection in a Young Adult Population Achieved

In simple terms

This study is like a fair test where half the kids got a special jelly with good bacteria and half got plain jelly. After 12 weeks, fewer kids in the special jelly group got sick with H. pylori. So we can say the jelly probably helped stop them from getting infected — but only for these kids in Chile.

Key takeaways

Summary

Based on the study abstract and findings.

  1. 1This means the jelly is very good at stopping healthy people from catching the stomach germ — like a shield — but it can't kick out the germ if you already have it.
  2. 2Of kids who didn't have the germ at first: 34 out of 100 got it without the jelly, but only 3 out of 100 got it with the jelly.
  3. 3The jelly didn't help kids who already had the germ.
