As Alzheimer's disease develops, it damages brain cells. This damage can be seen with brain scans and brain wave tests. The worse the damage, the more likely the person is to develop Alzheimer's. Education and job experience can help the brain work around the damage, but they don't fix the damage itself, so they don't predict the disease as well when we already know how damaged the brain is.
