People who ate all their food before 1 p.m. had better blood sugar, insulin, and blood pressure than those who ate until 6 p.m.—even when both groups lost the same weight. Their metabolic age also dropped, suggesting timing alone rewired their metabolism. https://s.fitbodyscience.com/9fwGRN

The breakdown

When you eat might matter just as much as what you eat — especially if you’re eating early.

Some studies show that people who ate all their food before 1 p.m. had better blood sugar, insulin, and blood pressure than those who ate later — even when weight loss was the same. Other research found similar benefits for early eaters, like lower body fat and a younger metabolic age. But not all studies agree: others found no extra metabolic benefit from eating earlier, even when people stuck to the same calorie count. Some even found that eating within a narrow window didn’t improve blood sugar or belly fat any more than just eating a healthy diet without time limits. So while early eating seems to help some people, it’s not a guaranteed upgrade for everyone.

Bottom line

Eating earlier might give your metabolism a little boost, but it’s not a magic trick — what you eat and how much still matter a lot.
