A new preprint (PDF Jennifer Richard’s work!) showing some fun sex differences in the effects of conjugated GLP-1 +E2 (GE2) in rats fed a high fat-high sugar diet! GE2 promoted weight loss & improved memory in both sexes. But reduced visceral fat & HPC inflammation in females only ++ more later.

The kicker: GE2 slashed belly fat and brain inflammation only in female rats, while memory improved in both sexes. The weight loss effect? Not directly tested yet. Sex matters even in rat metabolism. https://s.fitbodyscience.com/2mLRKn

The breakdown

A new study suggests a hormone combo improves memory and trims belly fat in female rats — but the weight loss claim needs more evidence.

Other research backs up the memory improvement and the sex-specific effects on belly fat and brain inflammation. Studies on male and female rats fed unhealthy diets found that the hormone combination improved memory in both sexes, but only reduced visceral fat in females. Another study similarly found that it lowered hippocampal inflammation only in females. However, we couldn't find any research specifically testing the weight loss claim, so that part remains unverified. Keep in mind these are rat studies, so what works for rats might not work the same way in humans.

Bottom line

So the memory benefits and the female-only fat loss seem solid, but don't count on the weight loss effect until more research confirms it.
