The chemical structure of a nutrient determines how much of it enters the bloodstream, and specially designed forms increase the amount absorbed.
In a small group of healthy adults aged 45 to 65, taking one dose of 240 mg of either cocrystal ubiquinol or ubiquinone on an empty stomach did not cause any reported side effects.
A specific form of ubiquinol delivered as a 240 mg tablet results in 120% higher peak blood levels and 101% greater total absorption in the bloodstream compared to the same dose of ubiquinone in adults aged 45–65.
After taking a 240 mg oral dose, cocrystal ubiquinol produces 3.4 times more total CoQ10 in the bloodstream over time than ubiquinone in healthy adults aged 45–65, resulting in higher absorption and longer presence in circulation.
A modified form of ubiquinol called a cocrystal is more stable and absorbs better in the body than standard ubiquinol, without degrading during storage.
