Noni (Morinda citrifolia L.) fruit phenolic extract supplementation ameliorates NAFLD by modulating insulin resistance, oxidative stress, inflammation, liver metabolism and gut microbiota.
This study looked at mice that ate a fatty diet and gave some of them a special plant extract. It saw that those mice had less fat in their livers and different gut bugs—but it didn’t randomly assign the mice, so we can’t be sure the extract caused the changes. It’s like noticing that kids who eat candy seem to have more energy—but we don’t know if the candy caused it or if they were just more active to begin with.
