People with obesity who took a shot called retatrutide once a week for a year lost nearly a quarter of their body weight—way more than those who got a dummy shot. This makes it one of the strongest weight-loss medicines we’ve seen so far.
Most people with obesity who take a high dose of a drug called retatrutide every week for nearly a year lose at least 15% of their body weight — that’s like dropping 30 pounds if you weigh 200. Almost no one on a fake pill loses that much.
When people with obesity take retatrutide, the most common side effects are stomach problems like nausea or diarrhea. These tend to happen more and get worse when the dose is higher, but starting with a lower dose (2 mg) might help reduce these issues.
A drug called retatrutide helps people lose a lot of weight—sometimes over 70 pounds—by targeting certain hormones, but it works so well that it can cause unexpected health problems.
