Scientists tested if adding vitamin C to beetroot juice helps with blood pressure and other health measures in young healthy people.
No biological mechanisms were identified in this study. This may be an epidemiological, observational, or survey-based study that reports associations rather than proposing causal biological pathways.

Bacteria in the mouth help regulate blood pressure by converting nitrate to nitrite, which is part of the body's natural blood pressure control system.
When people take nitrate (from beetroot juice) and vitamin C together, their bodies produce more nitrite in urine and saliva than when they take just nitrate or no nitrate.
When healthy young adults drank beetroot juice with vitamin C, their daily systolic blood pressure went down a bit compared to before they started the treatment.
Drinking beetroot juice with or without vitamin C didn't make a difference in blood vessel health measurements for healthy young adults.
Mixing nitrate (from beetroot juice) with vitamin C might help keep blood vessels healthy in young people, but more research is needed because this study was small.
