This study is like a fair test where one group of women gets a special plant medicine and another group gets a pretend pill (sugar pill). Neither the women nor the doctors knew who got the real medicine. Because it was a fair test, we can say the medicine probably caused the improvements we saw in some measurements, like the size of the ovaries. But the test was small and lasted only about 3 months, so we can't be absolutely sure it works for everyone or for all symptoms.

What’s the bottom line?

This study tested a supplement made from asparagus root (called Shatavari) in women with PCOS. For 12 weeks, half got the supplement and half got a fake pill. The supplement improved many PCOS signs like ovarian cysts, acne, extra hair, and hormone levels.
